E3

The Tank turned Three. I’ll be honest here, I feel like she’s been 3 for awhile now. She’s so tall, and verbal, and her fine motor skills are already pretty tight. There were certainly moments of frustration when I had to take a step back and remind myself that she was only two! She had a faery lore themed party and most of her little cousins were able to attend. I think she had a pretty great time!

I’ve said this before and I will say it again, this child is my inspiration! Her personality is so big and bold. She is so energetic, adventurous, and filled with joy. She laughs easily, a trait I hope she never loses. And although her constant motormouth can fray my nerves near the end of a long day, I do appreciate her zeal. E inspires me to be my best self. To accept and love myself so that I can, in turn, do the same for her. Society puts out a lot of falsehoods when it comes to appearance, but the truth is that our children learn these insecurities from us, not from a magazine cover. They learn it while we sit on the couch complaining about being fat. They learn it while we relax our hair so that it can be “nice”. That’s not what I want my daughters to learn from me. Having a daughter (let alone two) has truly helped me to see myself differently. My job is to boost them up, so that they are strong enough to withstand the constant put downs of “the real world”. I want to be the role model she deserves. To lead by example. E inspires me to do just that.

For a warm and woodsy feel, I made her cinnamon buns.

Another year has passed, and a new year of adventures and milestones has begun. It’s only been 2 weeks, and she’s already gone through a huge growth spurt, making her noticeably trimmer, taller, and more childlike (less baby). Three year old E is wild, smart, happy. Loves to sing, dance, and draw. She’s fast, fit, and strong. I sometimes dream of who she’ll one day be. Will she be a mother, a wife, a teacher, a rugby player, a derby girl? Will she be a ravenous reader, a writer, an artist? A ballerina or a musician? So much potential packed into this small creature, and I am grateful to be here to watch it all unfold. Thankful, everyday, for the experience of her.
